  National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy

What is NCRIS?

Through NCRIS, the Government is providing $542 million over 2005-2011 to provide researchers with major research facilities, supporting infrastructure and networks necessary for world-class research.

No funding is currently available for new projects. All available funding has been allocated to priority capability areas identified in the 2006 NCRIS Roadmap.

NCRIS Capabilities

In November 2006, funding for twelve priority NCRIS areas of investment was announced.

Strategic Roadmap for Australian Research Infrastructure

A review of the initial 2006 NCRIS Roadmap was undertaken in the first half of 2008. The final version of the Strategic Roadmap for Australian Research Infrastructure was released on 4 September 2008.

The 2008 Roadmap provides a statement of research infrastructure requirements over the next 5 to 10 years. No funding has yet been allocated to progress these research infrastructure needs.
